Let’s just pretend for a minute that we are both at a coffee shop. Why not make it by the beach somewhere? Samoa is supposed to be good this time of year. We’ve just met. Things are kind of awkward, but only in a we-are-both-humans-who-have-not-come-across-one-anothers-existance-before kind of way. I kick off the awkwardness by prominently announcing that I don’t drink coffee, just as I come face-to-face with the impatient barista wanting to take my order. I guess today we are on a mission to test how patient a grumpy barista can be.
You open a new line of conversation by posing the question, “if you could be a Hollywood actor, who would you be?” I scrunch up my face at the thought of being famous and unable to do my grocery shopping without paparazzi attached to me. Without thinking, the words “Emma Stone” escape my mouth as I start to reflect on how much I admire her down-to-earth personality that is accompanied by her courage to explore a variety of roles.
In life we are always taking on new roles as we learn and grow. For now, my life is currently in a transition period. My latest role was given to me in the form of becoming an expectant (makes me sound about as patient as a fictional barista working in Samoa who is the only non-laid back person in the place) mother. Like Emma Stone, I too hope to absolutely thrive in the new role I’ve been given to the best of my ability. I mean, did you see her in The Help? WOW. Loved it.
Anyway, it was great one way yarning to you. I look forward to getting to know you more and sharing with you more educational focused content in the not too distant future.
DISCLAIMER: I have never been to Samoa. However, I am sure all of their baristas are lovely people, no harm was intended in the making of this post.
