How do you feel when you hear the words common core? For many, the standards used create frustration and dismay. I have spent many hours, days, and months studying (yes, studying) the standards just trying to get my head around them and what they mean. The good news for me is… I’m finally there. The good news for you is… I have a bunch of kindergarten resources available for you to get your hands on that will save you those countless hours of trying to comprehend the standards. This leaves us with the ultimate problem. What can you do with that spare time? Well I’ve even thought that through for you and have come up with the following…
✌ have a glass of wine, ✌ spend time with your family, ✌ go for a bike ride, ✌ read a book, ✌ reflect on how awesome your little kiddies are, ✌ breathe for five seconds before catching up on everything else you are behind in.
Do you have an examples of what the resources look like?
I sure do! Check out the two examples of the worksheets that available for kindergarten common core math below, along with an example of a teacher answer sheet. I also have partial previews available for each of my kindergarten resources over at https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Lucy-Wattie/Category/Kindergarten-Math-261048
So what exactly do these resource consist of?
✓ clear questions that align with the common core standards
✓ cute graphics that are not only engaging for little learners, but they also add context to the questions being asked
✓ each sheet is labelled (in the bottom right hand corner) with the exact standard it relates to
✓ answer sheets are provided for teachers, these can also be given to older/ more confident learners to self-mark
Having the teacher answer sheets may sound silly to someone outside of the teaching world. However, even math at a kindergarten level can be incredibly complex and our brains as teachers are not always in a mush-free state. These will save you so much time and frustration with having to work out what is expected of your students according to the common core standards. Enjoy!
